2.1 GENESIS 6 AND THE SONS OF GOD

Genesis is the first mention of the term “Sons of God.” in the Old Testament.

And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, That the sons of God

saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. Genesis 6:1- 2

The phrase "sons of God" used in Genesis 6 is “bene elohim”, which used apparently only three other times in Scripture and in each of the other cases it is found in the book of Job which is accepted as one of the most ancient books written

Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also

among them.

Job 2:1 Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them

to present himself before the LORD.

Job 38:7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shoute d for joy?

It is clear that the term “Sons of God” in old testament Judaic literature was in reference to angels. For a more detailed understanding C. Fred Dicksons “Angels: Elect and Evil” 59 is a hallmark in providing a biblical barometer for the understanding of the nature, ministry, classification and role of angels.

The concept of the Sons of God being angels is becoming much more prominently accepted within mainstream Christian literature because of the increase in the UFO phenomena, alien abductions and the significant parallels with Genesis 6. Up until the last fifty year there was a significance reluctance of many bible scholars to even consider the fact that angels could cohabit with human beings. As a result many fanciful interpretations of Genesis were provided such as that the Sons of God were from the godly line of Seth (Adam and Eve’s third child) and the daughters of Men from the line of Cain.

In 2007, Wendy Alec, co-founder of God TV released a major fictional work called “Chronicles of Brothers” 58 providing a fictional account of heaven before the fall of Lucifer and the events that eventually led to his fall. In the first book of the series, there is a chapter which is primarily focused on the attempts of some of the fallen angels to try an unravel the very secret of creating life by a secret meeting in which they discuss the human genome and the unravelling of human DNA and its
