THE APOCALYPSE AND THE TEMPLE CODE

C. Purpose of the two witnesses

1. They are linked to measuring the Temple in Jerusalem (Rev. 11:1) 2. They are to testify to the Jewish remnant in Jerusalem 3. They turn the hearts of the fathers to the children (Mal. 4:5)

Note: I believe it is the rebuilding of the Temple that will trigger the conflict in Jerusalem.

4. Elijah must come and restore all things 5. Elijah would know the tribe of each Jew 6. In Jewish tradition, Elijah is expected to precede the appearing of the Messiah

D. Three major points

1. They will have great power for miracles (sending fire and plagues – Rev. 11:6) 2. No man can harm them for 1,260 days; afterwards they will be killed (Rev. 11:3) 3. Possibly at the Temple dedication, the antichrist enters Jerusalem (Dan. 9:27)

E. Six things that will occur in Revelation 11:7-15

1. Both prophets are killed by the antichrist when he invades Jerusalem (Rev. 11:7) 2. Their bodies will be laid in the street for 3 ½ days (Rev. 11:9) 3. Men will send gifts in celebration of these two men being killed (Rev. 11:10) 4. They will be raised from the dead after 3 ½ days (Rev. 11:11) 5. A great earthquake will strike the city and 7,000 are killed (Rev. 11:13) 6. The antichrist will make a move to set himself up in Jerusalem (Rev. 13:1-11)

After their ascension from Jerusalem, the seventh angel blasts his trumpet (Rev. 11:15-16) This is the time that a judgment for the righteous is set in heaven

A. There are two heavenly judgments

1. The judgment seat of Christ (Rev. 11:18) is at Christ’s throne 2. The great white throne judgment (Rev. 20:11-13) is at God’s throne
