C. The antichrist signs agreements
1. He confirms (makes firm a covenant) for one week (Dan. 9:27) 2. By peace he shall “destroy many” ( Dan. 8:25)
3. Peace here is not Shalom, a normal word for “ peace, blessing, and prosperity ” 4. Peace here is shalvah , meaning, security (false or genuine) or “ making things quiet ”
5. He uses peace to destroy , meaning to “ decay, ruin, and lay them waste ” 6. Men cry peace and sudden destruction will come (1 Thess. 5:3)
D. The antichrist makes a treaty
1. There is a seven-year treaty with Israel involving the land (false peace) 2. Dan. 8:23-24 teaches he comes to power when transgression is full 3. Islam teaches there will be four agreements with the “Romans” (Christians and Jews) 4. The antichrist appears at the beginning of the seven years (with a treaty) 5. The antichrist will rule from a Middle East nation for forty-two months 6. The antichrist will seize Egypt, Libya, and Ethiopia (Dan. 11:42-43) in mid-tribulation 7. The white horse rider introduces a new Islamic empire the final forty-two months
THE RED HORSE (Revelation 6:4)
A. The second seal introduces a red horse and rider
1. The dragon, beast, and harlot all have the color red (Rev. 12:3; 17:4-5) 2. Peace will be taken from the earth - meaning quietness, rest, the tranquility (there will be unrest) 3. He uses a great sword. G reat is “ megas, ” meaning “ mighty, big, and exceeding great” 4. A sword throughout the Bible means war or severe fighting
Note: How can one man conquer without arrows, followed by a red horse of war?
B. Islamic wars and jihadists are in the following countries
1. Indonesia, Nigeria, Sudan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Lebanon, Iraq, Israel, etc. 2. About 90% of all wars and civil uprisings involve Muslims or Islamic countries 3. The Muslims teach they will dominate the world in the 21st century through sword 4. The red horse takes peace by fighting wars throughout the earth 5. There will be food shortages and no doubt fights will ensue over the need for food
THE BLACK HORSE (Revelation 6:5)
A. The third seal introduces a black horse
1. One measure is about 1 ½ pints; it was a ration for one day in the Roman time 2. A denarius was a coin for a full day ’ s work, normally provided 12 to 15 times more 3. In good times, barley could be purchased 24 measures for 1; here only 3 measures for 1 4. The scales are a picture of the rationing process for food (shortage) 5. They are selling barley and wheat; oil and grapes are not impacted (this is strange) 6. Wine used as a metaphor for the vineyards and oil a metaphor for olives
