Again, self-esteem is your awareness of your value to your environment. After God gave human beings their self concept and self-worth, his next instruction was for them to have dominion over the earth because he wanted them to understand how important they were to the entire environ ment. He esteemed them highly by making them corulers over creation. The Creator was showing them that he made them more important than the plants, animals, birds, and fish. A popular belief today is that human beings evolved from the animal kingdom, yet God not only distinguished us from animals by giving us his own nature but also by placing us in authority over them. Our self-esteem should be equal to the esteem with which the Creator regards us. He esteemed us so much that he gave us the ability to govern over creation, making us coleaders and corulers with him on Earth. Our disposition toward ourselves and the world comes from our self-estimation. Our self-estimation, in turn, comes from our awareness of our value to our world. This is where we get our sense of significance and contribu tion in life. Now that I understand that I have been created to be a leader, I esteem myself very necessary to the world. You need to do the same thing because your leadership will come from that awareness. You must come to the point where you are convinced and convicted that you and your S ELF - ESTEEM IS YOUR AWARENESS OF YOUR VALUE TO YOUR ENVIRONMENT .
