Those who trust in their wealth

And boast in the multitude of their riches,

None of them can by any means redeem his brother,

Nor give to God a ransom for him.

--Psalm 49:6-7

On one occasion, an occult leader from Samaria saw a visible manifestation of the power of God as Peter and John prayed for the new converts in the city. This city sorcerer offered money to receive a transfer of this power in his own life. The problem was that this man, named Simon, was not converted to Christ and was operating through familiar spirits. Peter rebuked him and said: Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money! --Acts 8:20

Christ, the Final and Complete Redemption

Your redemption is in Christ alone and is a completed work. Christ is your High Priest in heaven and is your Intercessor before God: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. --Ephesians 2:8-9, KJV
