Secrets from Beyond The Grave
In light of the warnings not to lose your reward and not to allow another man to take your crown, warnings were given to five of the seven churches in Revelation, instructing them to repent of their spiritual and moral failures or face severe spiritual and judgmental consequences. "Repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place" (Rev. 2:5). "Repent, or else I will come to you quickly and will fight against them with the sword of My mouth" (Rev. 2:16). "I will cast her [Jezebel] into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds" (Rev. 2:22). "Hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you" (Rev. 3:3). "[Repent, or] because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth" (Rev. 3:16). All believers at the bema will have their works tried through some form of fire. The Books in Heaven How does God know what we have done? God is omnipotent, thus all knowing. Heaven also has numerous books (perhaps scrolls) with information recorded in the heavenly records. There are at least five different types of books in heaven that record information about those living on Earth. 1. The Book of the Living There is a Book of the Living in heaven, which some suggest is the same as the Book of Life , which contains the names of the righteous. However, this Book of the Living appears to be a book revealing the destinies of all humans born on Earth. God spoke to Jeremiah and said, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations" (Jer. 1:5). This is an example of the foreknowledge of God. David knew about this foreknowledge when he wrote: Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them.
--Psalm 139:16
Prior to the physical birth of every human, there is information in heaven concerning the details of each living person. This is the Book of the Living, and the details for each infant were written before the infant was formed in the womb (Ps. 139:16). God not only knew you before you were born, but He also knows the number of days you will live! God Himself has a specific name that He has given to each person, and when we enter the heavenly kingdom, He will reveal to us our new name (Rev. 3:12).
