Prayer

I have had many people write and ask me about prayer. I am not an expert and there are many good books already written on the subject, so I am just going to share with you a few of the personal lessons I have learned. I know that many are called by God into a specific ministry of interces sory prayer. Please let me make it clear that this is not my own personal calling. Also, I hasten to add, that God works with each individual as an individual. You will develop your own methods of prayer. There are no rules as to how to pray except that we are to make our requests to our heav enly Father in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ. We are commanded to pray. If we do not, we are sinning. With these thoughts in mind, let me share just a few things with you. My prayer life flows directly out of my personal moment by-moment relationship with the Lord. In the book He Came To Set The Captives Free, as well as in this one, I tried to describe my growing relationship with the Lord. I totally committed my life to Jesus Christ, thus making Him my Master, in addition to my Savior, during my first year in medical school. The next three years of medical school were used by the Lord to train me to hear Him speak directly to me through my spirit, and thereby to bring me into a close relationship with Him. As my relationship with the Lord grew, so did my prayer life. I developed the habit of talking to the Lord continuously throughout the day. You see, as I mentioned in the previous chapter,
