must walk in obedience and faith. Part of that faith is the un derstanding and acceptance that' the gifts operate only as the Lord wants them to. Christians seem to spend the bulk of their time trying to formulate doctrines to get around the sovereignty of God. It just can't be done! The sooner we accept that, the sooner we will come closer to the Lord in our personal relationships. My first covenant with the Lord was at the time of my salvation. My second covenant was when I made Jesus the total Master of my life by making that total commitment. I was the initiator of these two covenants. All the rest of the covenants in the years since have been initiated by God. I believe God wants every person to initiate these first two covenants themselves, then God will initiate the rest. My parents reque~ted a covenant from the Lord to which He demonstrated ~is agreement by performing the miracle of bringing about my mother's second pregnancy. (They had only two childr,en.) The third major covenant I made with the Lord was when I accepted His c~ll to spiritual warfare. I wrote about this in my first book, !He Came To Set The Captives Free. This third covenant took iPlace five years after the second one. I had, at the L6rd's command, moved Elaine into my home to protect her 'from attack by the satanists. After the Lord kept us safe, there was a brief waiting period before the onset of the ~attle with the demons in Elaine. As I look back on that titne, I realize that I needed another covenant with the Lord ~efore I could proceed into that battle, even as God had covenanted with Joshua before he crossed over the Jordan river to bring down Jericho. God held the demonic spirit~ in abeyance for about two weeks until I could decide a~out this new covenant. During that time the Lord spoke to me very plainly and told me He deSired to make a covenant with me. The terms of this covenar;tt were as follows: first, I was to commit my I
