I asked his mother's permission to anoint and pray for Tommy. She agreed. I anointed Tommy and commanded any demon spirits to leave him and asked the Lord to spe cially shield and protect him. Then I simply presented the gospel to him and he prayed with me, making Jesus his Savior. Lastly, I taught him that whenever anything scared him he should simply say, "Jesus help me.'' He agreed. His nightmares ended immediately and the rest of the family finally came to the Lord as a result of His wonderful work in Tommy's life. His mother later told me that every now and then she would awaken at night to hear Tommy's little voice saying, "Jesus help me - go away you nasty thing, Jesus won't let you hurt me, I'm not afraid of you any more." Children can learn spiritual warfare at very young ages. They have such a simple faith that the Lord can work powerfully in their lives. An excellent example of childhood contact by demons is found in The Beautiful Side of Evil, by Johanna Michelson. Johanna saw spirits in her home at an early age. She was tor mented by these demons for years. If only her parents had known how to protect her, what torment could have been avoided in her life! A high percentage of the people with whom we work who are coming out of the occult have clear memories of their first demonic contact during young childhood. Usually their parents just discounted the incidents as nightmares and the children, forced to cope with the situation as best they could, started talking to the beings that frightened them so much, thus establishing direct contact with demons and the spirit world.
