Hebrew Parallels Associated with Early American History

America, Jamestown, a place named after James I. The pilgrims and the Hebrew Letter Beit

The Hebrew letter beit is composed of three lines resembling a square, yet open on the left side. From the perspective of the Torah, the top line of the square faces east, the right side faces south, the bottom side faces west, and the open side faces north (Source: The Alef-Beit , Rabbi Yitzhak Ginsburgh). The Hebrew letter b pronounced "beit," is the first letter used in the Hebrew Bible in Genesis 1:1. The first word is b'reshit. Rabbis have wondered why God began creation with the b , which is the second letter of the Hebrew alphabet instead of the first letter x (pronounced alef). Rabbis say one reason might be because a beit represents a house. All through the Bible, God's interaction with man has been an effort to establish and maintain a relationship whereby God might dwell among men. "And let them make me a sanctuary that I may dwell among them." The Hebrew word for sanctuary is mikdash. The Temple in Jerusalem came to be known as the bet mikdash, meaning the house of sanctuary , where God would dwell among the children of Israel. If the interpretation of the Bible that teaches that America will serve as God's vineyard is correct, then God must have a dwelling place, or a house, there. Deuteronomy 12:5 states, "But unto the place which the Lord your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there, even unto his habitation shall ye seek, and thither thou shalt come." So God chose a specific place in Israel to place His home. The place of His habitation was in Jerusalem upon the Temple Mount. Looking at an aerial photograph of the Old City, you will discover that the three valleys near Jerusalem form the Hebrew letter W (shin). According to rabbinic Judaism, this letter represents the name of God. God literally placed His name in the landscape where He would dwell among His people. Would you be surprised to learn that this same landscape shows up in America? Cape Cod and the Letter Beit
