The Hebrew Connection Continues Early in American History

Columbus, an apparent Italian Jew, died before he realized that the continent he discovered would house the most powerful Gentile nation on earth. He would never see the Hebrew influence on America's early history, By 1503, Columbus still thought that he had discovered remote parts of Japan and China. It seemed that his assignment from God was finished. It is interesting that Columbus compared himself to Moses, and Moses did not enter the Promised Land to which he led the people of Israel. What did Columbus' voyages accomplish? They paved the way for colonization of North and South America, partly in an effort to spread the Gospel. Although many natives were forcibly converted, there were some caring men who truly wanted to help the natives. These men founded missions and schools such as San Antonio, San Diego, and San Francisco. In these missions, they taught the natives about the one
