Plucking the Eagle's Wings
Clipping the Wings of the Eagle
have without Christ. This void results in unhappiness, depression, despair, ungratefulness, and strife. In other words, our mental prison, caused by spiritual ignorance, leads to spiritual bondage in our lives. Christians in our nation conquered their problem of internal captivity upon their acceptance of Christ, yet they continue to struggle with sin and its effects in their lives. In addition, they are ridiculed on TV, sued for sharing the Gospel at work, and their jobs are jeopardized if they dare to read the Bible in public school cafeterias on personal time. Yet gangs roam the streets and cause people to live in fear, locked within their homes behind barred doors. Fear stalks America's inner cities after sunset. Our captivity is evidenced by the destructive toll of drug addictions. It is evident in a generation so addicted to lust that premarital sex is considered normal between children. Men think that they are women trapped in male bodies and women want to be men. Sexual liberation has resulted in sexual addiction and bondage. We have lost so many precious lives to these destructive actions. Just as God brooded over Israel, knowing the outcome of their sin, today He laments over His children whose concept of freedom has become so perverted. We must reach this end-time generation of young people with the message of hope and freedom through an experience with Christ. There is a Promise for the Youth In our Voice of Evangelism crusades and conventions, many young people rejoice and experience, as the old timers used to say, "A high time in Zion!" Biblical prophets foretold of these days. The Lord promised, "It shall come to pass in the last days that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh. Your sons and daughters shall prophesy" (Acts 2: 16-17). Psalms 102:16-18 teaches that the generation that sees Zion (Jerusalem) built up will see the Lord appear in His glory! David wrote, "This shall be written for the generation to come." The Hebrew word "to come" is the word acharon , meaning the end or the finale . It refers to the last generation on earth that will literally see the return of Christ. The verse continues "This shall be written for the generation to come ( acharon ) and the people which shall be created shall praise the Lord" (Psalms 102:18). The generation that sees Jerusalem built up will be the final generation and will also be a generation created to praise the Lord. The final worldwide revival will have roots among the youth.
