Plucking the Eagle's Wings

friend of mine who lives overseas corresponds with many wealthy, influential Americans. Once, while he was visiting a billionaire in New York, he said that he would be heading south to visit friends. The billionaire laughed and spoke about the ignorant, uneducated people living in the mountains. My friend asked, "Have you been there?" The man answered "No." My friend replied, "You don't know what you are taking about. They are some of the finest people in America!" The billionaire's views were biased and not factual. The us mentality of the Pharisees is exhibited by the media today when they accuse Christians of being narrow minded bigots and imply that if Christians could only see what they see, the world would be a better place. Yet Jesus said, "They are blind leaders of the blind and they will both fall into a ditch" (Matthew 15:14). Of course people have the right to disagree. This is America! However, societies have declined again and again as a result of sin. God requires much of America because of our heritage. Our current social and political disarray may just be a result of the day we clipped the eagle's wings.
