Plucking the Eagle's Wings
The Prophetic Implication of Election 2000
allows people to choose their own course of action, however unwise or sinful But in the end, if you do not follow the will of God, you may not be happy with the choices you have made. An example of this is the story of Abraham and Sarah. God's perfect will was for Sarah to give birth to Isaac, who would become the father of one nation, Israel. However, as the years passed and the couple grew old, Sarah suggested that Abraham have a son by her handmaiden, Hagar. When Ishmael was born (Genesis 16:15), God expanded His perfect plan and blessed not only Isaac, but Ishmael as well. Sarah and Abraham doubted God and it caused them to take matters into their own hands, but God remained faithful to them. Yet, their choices caused a family feud that is still raging today between the Jews (Abraham's children through Sarah), and the Arabs (Abraham's children through Hagar)! Another example is when the Holy Spirit warned Paul not to journey to Jerusalem because his life would be endangered (Acts 20:22 23 and Acts 21:11-13). Despite the warnings, Paul chose to make the journey (Acts 21:10-14). While at the Temple in Jerusalem, he was arrested and, from that moment forward, he spent much time in prison (Acts 21:27-40). Some scholars believe that Paul operated in his own will instead of God's perfect will. The Bible tells us that there is the mind of the Holy Spirit and the mind of man. Paul wrote, "What man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? Even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God" (1 Corinthians 2:11). There is a vast difference between people speaking out of their own spirits, and speaking with the inspiration pf the Holy Spirit. Psychics and false prophets, for example, speak from the spirits of men. However, Godly men and women speak from the counsel and wisdom of the Bible, and frequently by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. A psychic might tell you what is on your mind, but a prophet of God will tell you what is on God's mind! Only the Holy Spirit can reveal future events with one hundred percent accuracy. Don't waste your time or money on counterfeit sources. Missing God's Will Through Voting Since Americans are blessed with the freedom to vote, our leaders are not necessarily ones that God would put into office. This
