Plucking the Eagle's Wings
The Number 42
In Scripture, the number forty-two means either division (rebellion) or completion. The seven-year tribulation is divided in two halves, each in periods of forty-two months. In Revelation 11:3, the two witnesses complete their testimonies at the conclusion of the first forty two-month period. In this case, forty-two speaks of completion. During the second half of the tribulation, the Gentiles (the antichrist's armies) trample down the city of Jerusalem for forty-two months and divide the city once again (Revelation 11:2). In this example, the number forty-two pertains to division, or rebellion. From King Saul to the Babylonian invasion, there were a total of forty-two kings. The 42 nd king, King Zedekiah, saw the nation divided and Jerusalem destroyed. King Zedekiah marked the completion of fourteen generations from King David (Matthew 1:17). The 42 nd President and the King of Babylon A Hebrew pattern again appears with the 42 nd King of Israel, Zedekiah, and the 42 nd President of The United States, William Jefferson Clinton. During the reign of Israel's 42 nd king, trouble brewed in Babylon. Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar invaded surrounding nations. In the eleventh year of King Zedekiah's reign, the King of Babylon invaded Israel, destroyed Jerusalem, and took many Hebrews into slavery (Jeremiah 52). During Bill Clinton's term (America's 42 nd president), Saddam Hussein of Iraq was a "thorn in the flesh." Iraq resides in the exact area of ancient Babylon. In fact, Baghdad is not far from the ruins of ancient Babylon, home of Nebuchadnezzar. The pattern becomes more bizarre when considering that before Iraq's war with Iran, Saddam spent hundreds of millions of dollars to rebuild the ancient ruins of Babylon. The bricks of rebuilt Babylon contain an imprint of Saddam and old King Nebuchadnezzar. Saddam desired to build a new Islamic empire, with Babylon as its capital. During his eight years in the White House, Bill Clinton dealt with Saddam Hussein, who was a pseudo-king of Babylon. Saddam was an enemy of America during that time as the spirit of Babylon again emerged. Biblical prophecy indicates that the time will come when the final world dictator (more than likely a radical Muslim) will arise from the same territory and rule for forty-two months.
