14 ISRAEL'S KINGS AND AMERICA'S PRESIDENTS

Israel's 42 nd King and America's 42 nd President

"The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done; and there is no new thing under the sun." (Ecclesiastes 1:9) As previously explained, history unfolds in strange, repetitive cycles. An example of this is seen in the parallels between the lives of Abraham Lincoln and John Kennedy. American history is filled with Hebraic patterns and cycles. We see another interesting pattern when we compare ancient Israel's 42 nd king and the 42 nd president of the United States. Israel began as a theocracy. A priest or a prophet received direction from the Holy Spirit, announced God's will to the people, and the People were to follow. Eventually, Israel rejected their theocracy. They rejected God as King and wanted a human king like the surrounding nations had. Israel's first king was Saul. and he was "a head taller than his brethren." The first American President was George
