Giving to Help the Widows and Orphans James wrote, "Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world" (James 1:27). In many nations, the widows and orphans are homeless and hungry. In Romania, orphans starve to death each year. In Russia, thousands of widows survive all alone without any support. Thank God that America has been so giving to the needy, the widows, and the orphans. 3. Giving to Spread the Gospel to the Nations The Gospel of Christ must be preached to all nations and then the end will come (Matthew 24:14). Scripture states, "How then shall they call on him whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent?" (Romans 10:14-15). Christians in America lead the world in support of missionaries who take the Gospel of Christ to unreached people. They also generously finance costly crusades, build churches, develop Bible schools, and establish orphanages. Because of this, all of America has been favored by God. 4. Supporting Israel and Jerusalem In Genesis 12:3, God promised Abraham, "I will bless them that bless you and curse them that curse you." Believers in Christ are to "pray for the peace of Jerusalem; they shall prosper that love thee" (Psalms 122:6). America has been a safe haven for Jews from its beginning, and we also supported the Hebrews as they restored the nation of Israel in 1948. Other nations, such as Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Greece, and Germany, fought the Jews throughout history and are today either nonexistent or weaker nations than before. America has been blessed because, since 1948, American policy has supported Israel and Jerusalem as its undisputed capital. Scripture declares a special blessing for those who support Israel. 5.
