It is very interesting that the menorah, symbolizing the old covenant, and the fish, symbolizing the new covenant, when placed together form a Star of David (Israel). The emblem represents the unity between Jewish and Gentile believers in the first and second centuries. Despite some controversy over the authenticity of the pottery, the fact that this emblem has been made public, especially through Voice of Evangelism, is significant because God is using Christians to promote and support the reunification of Israel. Christians are meeting with Israeli leaders to show their solidarity, and Evangelical Christians are studying Hebrew and researching the New Testament from a Hebraic perspective. The Restitution of All Things The introduction of Jewish worship in some Christian churches and the discovery of the Jerusalem seal are two encouraging signs that there is new spiritual healing beginning on earth. Scripture states that the heavens will receive Christ "until the times of the restitution of all things spoken of by the mouth of all the holy prophets since the world began" (Acts 3:21). The word restitution means a restoration. Most prophetic scholars believe this restitution began in 1948, with the rebirth of Israel as a nation. No prophecy relating to the return of Christ could have been fulfilled unless Israel was restored as a nation, and the Jews returned to their homeland. When this restitution took place it produced a fivefold effect: • In 1948, Israel was restored as a nation (Isaiah 66:7-8). • In 1967, Jerusalem was reunited as the capital of Israel (Psalms 102:16). • In 1988, Jews began returning to Israel from the North, or Russia (Jeremiah 16:14-16). • In 1993, the latter rains began to return to the land of Israel (James 5:7). • In 1994, the desert areas began to blossom and produce fruit (Isaiah 35:1-7).
