Healing the Breach Between the Jews and Gentiles
Jerusalem, and the nations will come to Jerusalem to worship the King (Zechariah 14:16) God is preparing a people for the Lord (Malachi 3:1). Yet, in North America, there are still many conflicts between Bible-believing Christians and secular, or cultural Jews. The conflict is most apparent when we look at lawsuits aimed at eliminating Christian influence from public places. Secular (or Cultural) Jews and Christianity Prayer before high school sporting events has been opposed, along with having the Ten Commandments and Christmas carols in public schools. Much of the legal action to remove Christian influence from public schools has been championed by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), which has a large Jewish membership. According to the ACLU's Christian counterpart, the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), such suits include Adams County, Ohio where the school board was sued for permitting a monument of the Ten Commandments in front of four district schools. In Elkhart, Indiana, the ACLU fought to remove a plaque of the Ten Commandments from city hall. The ACLU attacked displays of the Ten Commandments in Wilkes County, North Carolina; Scott County, Indiana; Rockville, Maryland; Morehouse Parish, Louisiana; Hagerstown, Maryland; and countless others. Christians may wonder why some secular Jews would attempt to eliminate the Ten Commandments from public places. After all, the Ten Commandments came from Judaism and the Old Testament. Christians without a personal relationship with Christ and knowledge of the Bible can support social policies that are totally contrary to the Bible. Similarly, outspoken secular Jews with liberal views can be totally unaware of how these views are contrary to the Old Testament.
