Plucking the Eagle's Wings

Plucking the Eagle's Wings

Consider some contradictions in America's public policy today. The president places his hand on the Bible while taking the oath of office. Yet the Bible, the most widely acclaimed literary book in the history of the world, is banned from public schools. The Ten Commandments hang in Washington's Supreme Court, but they are banned from public schools. Recently, American Civil Liberties Union lawyers sought to remove the motto "With God all things are possible" from the Ohio State Seal. Employees who serve the public are trained to say "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas" during the Christmas season because some people might be offended by a tradition that comes out of our own culture! Even nativity displays have been banned from public places around the nation. In the name of political correctness, Christmas vacation is called Winter Vacation and Easter vacation is referred to as Spring break. People who do not believe in the Creator have essentially opted to honor the creation instead. People questioned where God was when the Columbine shootings took place in Colorado. The sad reality is that God has been banned from public schools. He is officially unwelcome at Columbine and at every other public school in America. The only way He's invited into schools today is within the hearts of His followers. I must say that we can't blame all of the problems in America on those with liberal viewpoints. The church of Jesus Christ has fallen short of living by God's commandments and of demonstrating the love of Christ. We must be living examples of how wonderful it is to walk with Him. The Vision of the Eagle When the Founding Fathers chose the eagle to be America's emblem, it symbolized their vision of American greatness. The eagle is known for its strength and ability to rise above tumultuous storms, thus enduring great turbulence. Is it possible that prophecy refers to a nation whose emblem is the eagle? If so, America's eagle is flying through unprecedented spiritual and political turbulence. The Book of 2 Esdras is found in the Old Testament Apocrypha. Most of the book records the lamentations of the Hebrew priest Ezra over the fall of Jerusalem. It describes visions that appeared to Ezra in dreams. The archangel Uriel interpreted the visions. The author of the book is unknown, but scholars believe that it was written near the close
