preaching when he suddenly stopped. He stood speechless for a time with his eyes closed. When he began to speak, he explained: "I have just seen a vision. I saw in this vision a great war that will encompass the whole world. I saw this war recess and then start again, actually being two wars. After this, I saw much unrest and revolts that will affect many nations. I saw in some places spiritual awakenings. In Russia, I saw there will come a general all-encompassing spiritual awakening so great that there could never be another like it. From Russia, I saw the awakening spread to many European countries. In 1917, sixty-two years after Hudson's vision, the Russian Revolution birthed Communism. The anti-God system grew like a poisonous vine that choked individual faith in God. For almost seventy years, the sword of godless Communism dripped with the blood of Christian martyrs. No one in the west ever believed that the Iron Curtain would fall and allow a period of religious freedom. Since a true Communist must be an atheist, western Christians reasoned that it was impossible for the Soviet Christians to ever be freed from the chains of oppression. Yet, a few underground believers were aware of a prophecy given in the 1930s, which revealed that one day religious freedom would come! A bishop in an unregistered Pentecostal church silently cherished that prophecy for more than fifty years. Several years ago while visiting Russia, the prophecy was told directly to Rev. Lovell Carey, former World Missions director for the Church of God. 1930 Prophecy Concerning Mikhail Gorbachev Lovell was in Russia shortly after the fall of Communism. He met with one of the Bishops of the unregistered Pentecostal church. According to the Bishop, in 1930 a Christian delivered an unusual prophecy. It said that, in the future, a man would arise in the Soviet Union whose name would be Mikhail, and he would have a mark in his forehead. She continued to say that, during his time, there would once again be freedom to preach, and revival would come. However, this freedom would only be for a short time, then repression would return.
