1 THE EAGLE IN BIBLE PROPHECY

Is America in Bible Prophecy?

Since America became a nation, Bible scholars and students have wondered if America is mentioned in Bible prophecy. Surely the most powerful Gentile nation on earth, a nation that has financed the preaching of the Gospel of Christ, would be mentioned prophetically in Scripture. America's history has been one of faith and freedom. Just as the Hebrews crossed the Red Sea to enter the Promised Land where they would be free to worship Jehovah, the Pilgrims crossed the Atlantic to find a land of religious freedom. They believed that they were fulfilling a Divine assignment. Their faith in the God of the Bible was evidenced in the Mayflower Compact signed on November 11, 1620, which read in part:

"In the name of God, Amen. We, whose names are underwritten, the Loyal Subjects of our dread Sovereign Lord King James, by the grace of God, of Great Britain, France, and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith. etc. Having undertaken
