Opening the Gates of Heaven Perry Stone

The faithfulness of this church to maintain its spiritual strength, keep the Word of God, and confess the name of Christ inspired Christ to open a door of opportunity and blessing for the believers. Notice that what God opens, no man can shut. However, the opposite is also true: what God closes, no man can open. At times Christ is on the outside of our lives or situations trying to get inside to commune with us, but we have closed Him out. He told the lukewarm church at Laodicea: “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me” (Rev. 3:20). This is the door of our heart, which must be entered through the gates of our spiritual senses, using open spiritual ears and open spiritual eyes to hear the knock and answer the call. To open or close any door requires a key. The key can lock and unlock the door, inviting someone in or keeping someone out. The Lord said He opened a door that none could close and informed the church He had the “key of the house of David.” This expression in Isaiah 22:22 is a reference to the Messiah: “The key of the house of David I will lay on his shoulder; so he shall open, and no one shall shut; and he shall shut, and no one shall open.” This alludes to the spiritual authority that has been given to Christ.
