Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. —M ARK 11:24

We must believe we have received when we are praying. There must be a feeling of expectancy. In 1981 I preached a five-week revival in Pulaski, Virginia. One afternoon, two hours before service, I was praying in the sanctuary and saw a woman sitting near the front on the left side. I approached her and noticed her hair was shaved and one of her eyelids was closed. She had a scar on the side of her head— the same side as her closed eyelid. I learned that her name was Mrs. Thacker and that she had undergone surgery for a brain tumor in Roanoke, Virginia. The doctor used a laser to remove the tumor and in the process had severed her optic nerve; thus she was blind in her right eye. She said, “I need God to heal me, and I’m here to receive a healing from Him.” Immediately I felt faith strike my spirit. I told her to sit on the second row in front of the pulpit. She did, and that night I preached a faith message. During the altar service, she came to the platform assisted by two godly women from the church, Bea Ogle and Birdie Viars. I remember placing both of my thumbs over both her eyes and praying. I could sense high expectations coming from her. After prayer she said, “I feel something odd moving in my
