submitted to the will of the Father, Satan was rendered powerless in His life, as we read in John 14:30: “The prince of this world is coming. He has no hold on me, but the world must learn … that I do exactly what my Father has commanded me” ( NIV ). Once Christ submitted His will to the Father’s purposes, the sins of mankind were placed upon Him (2 Cor. 5:21), and He entered a time of agony where His sweat became great drops of blood (Luke 22:44). The spirit world shifted, and according to Paul, God spared Christ from death in the garden. Hebrews 5:7–8 describes how this agony almost led to Christ’s death:

Who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear, though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered.

It was the will of God for Christ to receive a physical scourging in order to initiate the provision of physical healing through Christ’s atonement (Isa. 53:5; 1 Pet. 2:24). The will of God was manifested at Christ’s crucifixion for the redemption of mankind (John 3:16). God has provided a promise of sanctification in His written will, the Word (1 Thess. 4:3), and included in His will is that you prosper (3 John 2). God sent another Comforter for you, the Holy
