Instead we bring a tithe or an offering to the house of God and present it before God. When God looks at the offering, He is not judging the amount but looking at the motive and the attitude of the giver. Are you giving with a pure heart? Are your motives for giving to be a blessing to others and to the kingdom of God? If so, you will be blessed. But if a person’s heart is filled with carnality and unrighteousness, then that person’s gift (offering) may be received by the church, but it will not have the blessing of God! T HE C ONDITION OF THE H EART The first key to true prosperity begins with the spiritual condition of a person’s heart . I am not speaking of that muscle in your chest that pumps blood through the physical body, but the inward thoughts of the soul and spirit (Heb. 4:12). There are some spiritual fakers in the body of Christ. They sing in the choir but behind the scenes are always starting small fires. One day out of the week they worship, and sixdays out of the week they live the life of a hypocrite. I call it living like a devil but looking like a saint . Some name the name of Christ but are filled with unforgiveness, bitterness, strife, jealousy, and the other works of the flesh (Gal. 5:19–21). If we attempt to perform spiritual acts with a darkened heart, then we make void both the promises and the spiritual blessings. If we attempt to offer to God praise that is from our lips and not from our hearts, it is a sacrifice that is not received by God. We are offering God
