later he came to a revival and asked me to pray that the Lord would heal him. I said, “Didn’t you get a huge sum of money?” He said, “Yes, and now that I have the money, I want to be healed so I can do what I want to do.” I said, “OK, I will pray and believe God to heal you if you will give the money back! You would be deceiving the state if you took money saying you can’t work when you could actually work!” Needless to say, he departed angry, and I never prayed for his healing. He was praying a prayer that was “amiss.” The Greek word for “amiss” is a strong word that is translated in the English Bible as “worthless, diseased, miserable and sick.” God is saying that when we pray for something to fulfill our own lust, it is a diseased and sick prayer that will not be heard! Another man came forward for prayer. He believed he had married the wrong woman, and he knew he could not divorce her because she too was a Christian. He wanted God to take (literally kill) his wife to release him from his marriage so he could marry a woman he had met and was “spiritually attracted to.” This is a fine example of spiritual stupidity and a lust-driven prayer request. He needed to learn to get along with his wife and to make the break from his spiritual soul tie. I have met people who said, “I have given for years and have never seen a financial breakthrough.” I have also met many, many more who have great testimonies of provision and increase because of their obedient and Spirit-led
