When we worship, we plant the words of praise before God’s heavenly throne, and moments later we experience the fruit of our praise by enjoying the tangible presence of God flowing through the atmosphere of our gatherings. As we witness to a person who does not have a redemptive covenant with God, our words are planting seeds of Scripture into his or her mind, believing the time will come when the Word of God will take root and bring forth the desired result of repentance and conversion to Christ. This was Paul’s concept of believers coming into the fullness of the gospel. I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. —1 C ORINTHIANS 3:6 The entire kingdom of God, on earth, operates on the principle of planting and harvesting, thus the seedtime and harvest principle is a valid truth. truth. T HE S EED—THE B IBLICAL D EFINITION If all you have ever heard is that money and giving are your seed, you have only heard a small portion of a truth. The seed principle as found in Scripture is far more than a personal check or paper money. The Scripture indicates that a seed can actually be one of four different things.
