tempers, become unforgiving, have hateful attitudes, and become jealous or complaining, we are operating in the fleshly nature. W ORDS A RE P OWERFUL We have seen the potential power of our words in this chapter. We saw the supernatural power that there is in the words of Christ—when they were spoken directly by Him to feed a hungry crowd of five thousand, or directed at an angry storm to calm a sea, or given to the man of God to promise the birth of a son, which would not be fulfilled for many years. As children of God, His words dwell within our spirits to empower our lives also. They can change the darkest circumstances and calm our greatest storms. We can use His words to transform the lives of others through the power of His Spirit at work in our lives. But we have also seen the negative power of our words when we forget the promise of God in His Word. We can step out of God’s timing with our words. We can use our words to birth something in the flesh. And our words may even be the catalyst to our greatest thorny circumstances. We need to place our focus on the powerful Word of God, remembering that His Word is:
… profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly
