What happened to you tonight?” He responds, “I was saved!” Thus one sixty-year-old man sitting with sixty people hears a sixty-minute message, and in sixty seconds his life is transformed into a new creation (2 Cor. 5:17). This spiritual transformation is repeated thousands of times every day around the world, and it all begins with a spoken message from God’s Word! Paul described the Word of God as quick (Heb. 4:12, KJV ), a word meaning “alive and powerful.” The Greek word alludes to being energized and sharper than any two-edged sword. The Greek word for “two-edged” is distomos , a word used of rivers and roads that branch. It literally means, “two-mouthed.” This can be interpreted as a sword with two blades, one on either side. Consider this: When God spoke the Word out of His mouth and revealed it to the prophets to pen in the Scriptures, the sword— God’s Word—became sharp on one side of the blade. However, it only becomes sharp on the other side of the blade—double-edged—when you speak the Word of God out of your mouth!
