The Power of a Spoken Word For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. —H EBREWS 4:12 A LL WORLD RELIGIONS seek new converts. Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians believe it is their duty to teach others about their religion. In many world religions, a person is not converted to the god or the belief of that religion by a simple prayer but over a process of time. Through intense study and understanding of the concepts and beliefs of that religion, the person progressively becomes a believer. True Christianity is the only world religion where a person becomes a Christian by faith in Christ through a simple prayer of repentance. For millions of Christians, this initial prayer came at the climax of a message preached from Scripture that, in most instances, lasted for about thirty to sixty minutes.
