In Revelation 5:1–7, a seven-sealed scroll is opened by Christ, who is the only one worthy to loosen the seals and view the contents of the scroll. When a pope dies, his signet ring is destroyed and a new ring is prepared for the new pope, as each pope has his own emblem. T HE T RIALS OF J OSEPH Joseph was the favorite son of Jacob, the father of Israel (Gen. 37:3). When he was about seventeen years of age, he was stripped of his coat, thrown into a pit, and sold to a traveling band of Ishmaelites. He was eventually sold to a man named Potiphar in Egypt. Despite being rejected and sold as a slave, the Lord was with Joseph, as we read:

The L ORD was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. —G ENESIS 39:2

Joseph was a Hebrew servant who had such favor with his master that he was given total control over the entire house when Potiphar was on his business travels. His
