bring the judgment to pass against the king (vv. 31–33). Months prior to the king’s complete mental breakdown, the prophet Daniel interpreted for the king the warning concealed in his dream. However, the judgment did not immediately come to pass. In fact, it was twelve months later that Nebuchadnezzar was walking through his palace boasting of his accomplishments (vv. 29–30) when he was stricken with a rare mental disease that drove him from the palace to live with wild beasts in a field for seven years (vv. 31–33). The significant point is that the prayers were offered and the decision was sealed in heaven twelve months before it was issued to be enacted on earth. This is the same concept to understanding the belief that there is a special appointed season in which the gates of heaven are opened for times of repentance, reflection, and special intercession to God. It helps to explain the belief that major decisions for the coming year will be good and positive for yourself and your family!
