Opening the Gates of Heaven Perry Stone
remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also” (2 Tim. 1:5). When I was eighteen years of age, Uncle Rufus Dunford laid his hands on me and prayed for me, three months prior to his death, asking the Lord to impart his anointing upon me. After his passing, I began to experience extended revivals, continuing from three to five weeks in length. I could actually detect an increased level of faith when ministering in the altar services. It was my beloved father, however, whose dedicated daily prayer life served as an example for me to follow. Dad was the greatest example of prayer I have ever seen and was the most praying man I have ever known. I hope to follow his pattern. Please note that these twelve examples are not exclusive for one man. They are twelve patterns that each person reading this book can put into practice. The most important point is to never allow a pattern to become a form that loses its effectiveness because it is coming from a ritual instead of your heart. In all forms of prayer, God desires that your words come from the wellspring of your inner being.
