T RUSTING T HAT G OD K NOWS B EST There will be many times in your life when you will question why God would allow certain things to happen, especially bad things happening to good people. This is where trusting God is important. Lazarus was a close friend of Christ. We read: “He whom thou lovest is sick” (John 11:3, KJV ). Christ’s love was emphasized when we read He loved Martha, her sister, and Lazarus (v. 5). Yet Christ didn’t show up to prevent the death, nor did He send an anointed cloth or “speak the word” as He did with the centurion’s servant. He remained where He was. Jesus didn’t show up when they requested or anticipated His arrival. Yet He loved Lazarus. When you don’t see Christ moving in your direction, it does not mean He doesn’t love you. Prior to the translating and printing of the Holy Bible, common men and women were in darkness concerning the great doctrines of the Bible. With the Protestant Reformation and the translation of the 1611 English Bible, the distribution of the Word of God and the voices of reformers began to restore great doctrines from the Scripture. This restoration of truth was progressive, as each successive generation began to see truth that the previous generation may have missed.
