fulfill our own expectations, which are often expectations we place upon ourselves that God is not requiring. Thus a mental battle ensues, and we place self-pressure, creating our own battle. Other conflicts are caused by our struggle against demonic agents that may be assigned as hindering spirits, similar to Paul’s “thorn in the flesh,” the messenger of Satan that buffeted him (2 Cor. 12:7). The mental or spiritual battles will always be a part of our life experiences. However, just as Daniel held firm for three weeks, later discovering the heavens were raging with a cosmic conflict that was eventually broken by the intervention of the archangel Michael (Dan. 10), we must hold fast our confession until we experience a complete breakthrough. The waiting zone The third zone is the waiting zone. This can be the most difficult as we are a generation of instant messaging: e mails, texting, and Twitter. In seconds we can communicate with anyone around the world. We have come to expect instant answers to questions and comments. When we pray, there will be an earthy time element from the moment the Father hears until the moment we see the manifestation. The waiting zone is where we will either hold on or give up. The ability to wait requires patience, the ability to remain in faith over an extended period of time when you see no results from your believing.
