East, as well as the nations where the major religion is Hinduism, Buddhism, or Islam—the evil spirits that possess and control men and women all recognize the name of Jesus! When missionaries pray over the individual possessed by a demon, it is common for the evil spirit to say, “Do not say that name,” or to begin to curse the name of Jesus. Moments later, however, the power of that name is manifested as the person is delivered from satanic oppression and demonic possession. God knows whose name we are praying in when we say the name of Jesus. The Most High Father is looking down upon us to see our faith in His Word and our faith in the name of Jesus. It is: “God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles … ” (Heb. 2:4). S O W HICH N AME D O W E U SE ? There are more than one billion Christians on the earth, scattered across every continent and nation on the planet. The teaching of Hebraic roots—including the insight into the Hebrew name of Jesus— is known among many in North America and parts of Western Europe, Australia, and in Israel among the messianic groups. However, there are multiple hundreds of millions of believers in places such as Africa, China, South America, and other lands that simply have a Bible and say the name Jesus in their particular tongue. It is evident from the tangible presence of the Lord in their services that the Holy Spirit is moving in their hearts, and many are being converted to Christ and baptized in the Holy Spirit.
