This is a new covenant promise, giving the believer spiritual authority over the powers of the enemy. Christ said if two or three agree as touching “anything that they ask”! Years ago I saw the word “anything” and realized there was no limitation placed upon the “thing” we pray and agree over. “Anything” is a broad word, meaning we can agree in prayer concerning personal needs, other people, our circumstances, the need for healing, financial breakthrough—literally any need becomes anything ! When I was a teenage evangelist, I read Matthew 18:18–20, noticing that I could agree as “touching anything.” Suddenly a supernatural faith was burned into my spirit, and I believed that if we could pray over “things” that belonged to sinners, then the Lord could convict them, bringing them to the revival where I was speaking, where the Word of God and the Holy Spirit would bring them to Christ. At different times there were three churches where extended revivals occurred due to the spiritual results of such prayer: Daisy, Tennessee, went seven and a half weeks; Lafollette, Tennessee, went eleven weeks nightly; and Pulaski, Virginia, continued for almost five consecutive weeks.
