may seem delusional, deceived, or just lucky to you. If you were like me—raised in the home of a faith-filled, anointed man of God who prayed and saw the Lord heal and deliver many—then belief in the supernatural power of God is as normal as breathing air. D OUBT P EDDLERS AND J OY K ILLERS If you needed your car repaired, you would not visit a local surgeon in the hospital and say, “Can you X-ray my engine and see what the problem is?” If, on the other hand, your arteries are clogged and you need bypass surgery, you would never go to a carpenter in a subdivision and say, “Hey, brother … you got a saw that can cut through my chest and a few small wires to clean this plaque out of my heart?” The same is true with spiritual matters. If you desire a possible healing or need a special miracle, you should refrain from reading the words of a theological doubt peddler whose writings are filling you with more questions than you can answer and more unbelief than your spirit can contain. I have questioned how two ministers can read the same Bible, including the same passages and verses, and yet end up with totally opposite views. Part of this problem is that we all read the Bible with our own denominational filters. All evangelical denominations basically hold to the same major doctrines of the New Testament, including: Christ’s virgin birth (Matt. 1:23), that Christ was the Son of God (Luke 1:35), the Crucifixion and the Resurrection
