subsequently, he lost his own daughter and son-in-law. Love and prayers began pouring in to his ministry, along with the critics’ questions. Some wrote that the minister’s preaching did not work since his daughter was taken in this accident. This would be like saying that Jesus had no power over death because He could raise Lazarus but died Himself! The minister and his wife went on their weekly television program to share their grief with the world. He told that when he began to ask the Lord why this happened, the Holy Spirit responded and revealed to him that there were things that happen in this life that a person will never know the answers for until they arrive in heaven. That settled the issue for him and his wife. He would not ask why again, knowing that once he began asking why, one question would lead to another, and the questions might never end. 1 The point is that we will all eventually pass away, and when the moment of our appointment comes, we will go on to our final eternal destination despite the amount of prayer being offered on our behalf. We are told in Scripture, “The days of our lives are seventy years; and if by reason of strength they are eighty years, yet their boast is only labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away” (Ps. 90:10). There is no limitation set on an exact number of years we can live. We should, however, strive to live a good life with integrity and to pass with a good name.
