together (1 Thess. 4:17); a group of living saints will be changed from mortal to immortal (1 Cor. 15:52–54), escaping the normal form of death. However, sooner or later all men will pass away, so it’s not a matter of i f but when . Some will pass later in life and some sooner. We live in a violent world. Fact number two is this: we live in a violent world that is still under the curse. Because of human criminal elements, good people often become the victims of violent crimes. Because the earth is presently under the curse (Gen. 3:17– 19), hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, and disasters can strike good people. Christians can lose their homes and possessions, just as Noah did during the Flood and Lot did when Sodom was destroyed (Gen. 6; 19), and even, at times, their lives. Jesus taught: “He … sends rain on the just and on the unjust” (Matt. 5:45). Trouble comes to both the righteous and the unrighteous. We can override warnings. Fact number three is: in some tragedies, it may have been possible the person(s) ignored warnings from people and/or from the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will show you things to come (John 16:13). This can mean warnings through a vision, a dream, a close friend, visible circumstances, and inner signals that come call premonitions . If the Lord shows you impending danger and you act in a way that voids that warning by walking
