tabernacle of David, which has fallen down; I will rebuild its ruins, and I will set it up (Acts 15:16). Amos prophesied that the Lord would rebuild the Tabernacle of David (see Amos 9:11). David raised up this Tabernacle and gave Israel a pattern of worship. Remember, apostles bring patterns to the Church. David is a type of apostolic ministry in that he left for Israel a pattern of worship. The Tabernacle of David was simply a tent erected by him in which the ark of God was placed. Surrounding this tent were musicians and singers who praised the Lord continually. So he left Asaph and his brothers there before the ark of the covenant of the Lord to minister before the ark regularly, as every day's work required (1 Chron. 16:37). This was prophetic worship established by David. Moreover David and the captains of the army separated for the service some of the sons of Asaph, of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, stringed instruments, and cymbals ... who prophesied according to the order of the king (1 Chron. 25:1,2, italics added). Prophetic worship includes new songs, spontaneous songs and prophetic songs. It releases the psalmists and minstrels to flow prophetically in the house of the Lord. The Tabernacle of David provides an atmosphere for the glory of the manifest presence of God, and the Lord's presence brings healings, miracles and deliverances. The Tabernacle of David represents true worship. This is worship that is done in spirit and in truth (see John 4:24). Our worship should have a prophetic dimension because the Holy Spirit is also a prophetic Spirit. As Israel continued to backslide and worship idols, the Tabernacle began to fall down. Israel forsook the true worship of God and took up idolatry. The Tabernacle of David eventually ended in ruins, though Amos prophesied of the day it would be rebuilt.
