Dr. Dennis Cuddy writes: “Both King Henry VII and his granddaughter, Queen Elizabeth I (Queen of England, 1558-1603), used the ‘phoenix’ as one of their badges. Queen Elizabeth I (to whom President Bush is related) was also fascinated by men’s eyes....Favored servants of the queen signed their letters to her with symbolic eyes...and John Dee (who headed the British espionage network) signed himself ‘007.’ Dee, an acquaintance of the queen’s husband (the Earl of Leicester), was an alchemist, astrologer, psychic, and spy. According to Mind Wars (1984) by Ron McRae (former associate of columnist Jack Anderson), the basis for his ‘007’ signature was: 'Each zero representing an eye and the seven being the sum of two eyes, four other senses, and last, mystical knowledge from “the nine” spirits (muses) who spoke through Dee’s crystal ball, the “shew stone." Dee credited the nine and his shew stone with uncovering a Spanish plot to burn the forests that provided wood for English shipbuilding. Whatever the source, the plot was real. Had it succeeded, the Spanish Armada might have sailed unopposed in 1588. ”’ [Emphasis in the original] In The Eye Queen Elizabeth’s garment is described in detail. We are told: “The sumptuous robe of Elizabeth I is embroidered a remarkable SERPENT upon the sleeve, and a deft scattering of EYES and ears elsewhere, no doubt to signify that nothing escaped the attention of the Virgin Queen, our English Diana.”
