Mason and occultist Albert Pike contends: “These two Divinities [Isis and Osiris], the Active and Passive Principles of the Universe, were commonly symbolized by the generative parts of man and woman.... The Indian lingam was the union of both, as were the boat and mast and the point within a circle: all of which expressed the same philosophical idea as to the Union of the two great Causes of Nature, which concur, one actively and the other passively, in the generation of all beings....” In Signs and Symbols of Primordial Man we find that the point within a circle “is an equivalent for the Eye, and the two are co-types. Therefore it may be inferred that, as the fixed star at the centre, it was the Primordial All-Seeing Eye in the Astral Mythology.” The all-seeing eye, then, has the same phallic meaning as the point within the circle. In spite of this, The Short Talk Bulletin, a Masonic pamphlet, has an article entitled “The All-Seeing Eye.” It states: “The All-seeing Eye is to Freemasons the cherished symbol.... Therefore the thinking Freemason has reverence for this symbol.” Robert Hieronimus, an occultist, wrote: “The single eye, alone or in a triangle, was used extensively by Freemasons and other secret societies.”
Alice Bailey, whose husband, Foster Bailey, was a 32° Mason, also talked about the eye. She said:
