Masonic & Occult Symbols Illustrate
“was the hammer of Thor, celebrated in the mythology of the Norse nations, and the tradition ran that when Thor threw this golden cross, it struck, and, like the boomerang, returned again to his hand.... In Masonry, however, we find this hammer of Thor exceedingly important, and of very ancient usage among the Goths, and in the Masonic fraternity it has survived in the form of the mallet.” In Amulets and Superstitions we are told that it has been suggested that the four arms of the swastika “represent the four quarters of the heavens or earth, and also that the whole sign is an emblem of INDRA, or DYAUS, or ZEUS, or JUPITER, or THOR.” [Emphasis in the original] In fact, Thor used the hammer for his weapon and the swastika as his emblem. For instance, one of the most popular Masonic books ever written is The Builders by Joseph Fort Newton. In this book he refers the reader to an essay by Thomas Carr “in which he shows that the Swastika is the symbol of the Supreme Architect of the Universe among Operative Masons today....”
