It was an occultist, George Gurdjieff, who introduced the enneagram to Europe. “[He] claims it originated about 2500 years ago in a Babylonian wisdom school....This may implicate the enneagram with Babylonian astrology, since those characteristics would be signified by a point on the enneagram. Gurdjieff’s use of the enneagram also parallels the esoteric cabala’s ‘Tree of Life’ of Jewish mysticism.” It doesn’t matter what type of personality a person has, God can use him or her IF he or she is wholly committed to the Lord. God can take a hardened, drunken, wicked sinner and change that person into a kind, considerate, caring person. The Lord can take a shy person and make him or her into a bold individual who is willing to die, if need be, for the sake of the Gospel. Peter, as well as the other disciples, forsook Christ when it came time for Him to be crucified, yet just fifty-some days later these same disciples were bold enough to testify of Christ’s resurrection (Acts 2:1 -47). When they were imprisoned and admonished not to speak about Christ, they boldly replied: “We ought to obey God rather than men” (Acts 5:29). Let’s forget all the man-made (and demonic) devices and personality testing, and let us also “obey God rather than men.” “[Y]our faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God” (I Corinthians 2:5).
