would then be encouraged to make a large business deal, apply for that special job opening that you always wanted, or take that long-awaited trip to Europe on THAT day. However, if August 18th is one of your bad days, you should not make any major decision until one of your “good” days, thus avoiding the possibility of having things turn sour. The World Book Encyclopedia recounts: “During ancient times there was wide belief in OCCULT sciences. The best-known of the old OCCULT subjects included ASTROLOGY, alchemy, necromancy, and magic.” Under “ASTROLOGY” we find: “Judicial astrology is the astrology of today. It was and still is closely related to other pseudo sciences and superstitions such as palmistry, numerology, and the use of charms and magic.” Related articles under “Magic” include: ASTROLOGY, clairvoyance, divination, evil eye, exorcism, hypnotism, necromancy, shaman (witch doctor), telepathy, trance, voodoo and witchcraft! Nat Freedland, in The Occult Explosion, writes that “astrology is clearly the MOST IMPORTANT part of the OCCULT explosion.” He also says: “The greatest common denominator of OCCULTISM in the United States is the astrology column.” The Treasury of Witchcraft states: “Stemming from the Black Arts, and involving goetic premises, assuming the techniques and conditions of occult practices are alchemy, divination, astrology, and levitation.” Goetic magic, by the way, is black magic or sorcery. Mason Kenneth MacKenzie says that goetia is the “term for black magic, in contradistinction to Theurgia, or white magic. The powers of darkness were invoked in this system with horrible rites.” One book explains the Goetic Circle of Pacts (see picture on page 277) like this: “Symbols play a vital role in infernal conjuration. ...the Goetic Circle of Pacts, drawn by Eliphas Levi in the 19th century, is supposed to be used when the sorcerer is to make a pact with the Descending Hierarchy. The three circles in the center are the standing positions of the sorcerer and his apprentices. The skull must be from a parricide, the horns from a goat, the bat must have been drowned in blood, and the black cat, whose head is place opposite the skull, must have been fed on human flesh.” [Emphasis in the original]
