Richard O’Barry trained dolphins for the television show Flipper. He said: “I worked with dolphins for seven or eight years. We had five of them on the Flipper show, and we did 120 half-hour TV shows and two features in three years. The few dolphins we had were asked to do so much, so many different tricks, that we were teaching them on the spot. At the end, I realized it was all psychic! No words were used; they just seemed to sort of understand, anticipate what you wanted them to do, and do it.... If you want to call it telepathy or whatever, it was very much a part of what was going on.” [Emphasis in the original] Many groups have sprung up that offer workshops where one can swim with the dolphins, etc. The Dolphin Data Base has a list of 3,000 organizations and people who are involved in dolphin projects with at least 300 of them attempting to make inter-species communication. One group, the Dolphin Society Church: “trains persons in out-of-body traveling with dolphin and whale spiritual liberators. Through the practice, the Society’s advertising claims, ‘one can make friends, spirit helpers and lovers in the sea, visit alien star systems, learn healing, levitation, teleportation and shapeshifting.’”
