plead with, especially in order to persuade, to negotiate." The enemy once conquered will attempt to speak soft words, or flattering words. The Taylor translation says "Will he beg you to desist or try to flatter you from your intentions?" The answer in Leviathan's case is, "NO!" He is a proud and stubborn demon that rarely has to speak soft words. "The poor useth entreaties; but the rich answereth roughly" (Proverbs 18:23). The Lamsa translation of this verse reads: "The poor speak humbly but the rich talk of great things." The rich man, in his pride, answers harshly. A poor man, in his humbled state, pleads and makes supplication. Leviathan represents pride. He will not humble himself and make supplication. Supplication is also a form of prayer. We have found that the spirit of Leviathan hinders prayer. People who have a difficult time praying are often battling Leviathan. Many times people become sleepy when attempting to pray. This is a common manifestation of Leviathan. Proud people don't sense a need to pray. One of the manifestations of pride is not seeking God (Psalms 10:4). Humble people recognize the need to make supplication. Those who are controlled by Leviathan will have a difficult time making supplication. They have a difficult time asking for help. They often speak harshly to others. The tone of voice is an indication as to whether one is manifesting Pride. Will he make a covenant with thee? wilt thou take him for a servant for ever? (Job 41:4) Leviathan will not enter into covenant. He is an independent and proud spirit. He will never submit and
