The Mystery of the Waters

There is nothing hidden from God and his word. The waters are connected to the underworld. There are large chasms and trenches under the oceans. There are also spiritual entities that rule these regions. God, however, is the LORD of all. He is the Lord of the depths and rules and commands the deep. Dead things are formed from under the waters, and the inhabitants thereof. Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering. (Job 26:5-6) The Shades tremble beneath the earth; the waters and their denizens are afraid (Jerusalem) Before him the primaeval giants writhe, under the ocean in their prison. (Moffat) The departed spirits tremble under the waters and their inhabitants. Naked is Sheol before Him and Abaddon has no covering. This scripture not only shows that Sheol is under the sea, but names one of its inhabitants, Abaddon, who is naked with no covering before the Lord. The prophet Amos, in describing remote places where a fugitive may hide from God, says: Though they dig into Sheol... and though they conceal themselves from My sight on the floor of the sea, from there I will command the serpent and it will bite them. (Amos 9:2-3) For I know that the LORD is great, and that our LORD is above all gods. Whatsoever the LORD pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places.
